Puzzles by type
Picture sudoku
Picture sudoku uses shapes and pictures instead of numbers, so children who cannot yet read numbers can still do real logic: each picture appears once in every row, column and box.
Number pyramids
In a number pyramid, each brick is the sum of the two bricks below it.
Number patterns
Number patterns ask children to find the rule (add 2, take away 5, double) and write the missing numbers.
Number machines
A number goes into the machine, follows each step (add 3, double, take away 4) and comes out changed.
Maths story problems
Short story problems put sums into real situations: sharing sweets, counting birds, buying fruit.
Detective logic puzzles
Read the clues like a detective and use the grid to work out who has what.
